Dell Technologies has had a long-standing customer visitor program which enables them to take prospective customers on tours to their factories. The aim of this is to provide a deeper understanding of their configuration and logistics operations, and how by taking advantage of their factory services, customers can increase time to value whilst reducing the cost of IT deployment.
During a time when visits to their factories were no longer possible due to customers and Dell Technologies facing COVID-19 restrictions, Dell offered a virtual tour experience. However, Dell wanted to go one step further – improving the quality of their tours and expanding the idea to provide insight into multiple locations digitally.
The objective
To build on the current virtual tour experience for both users and customers through an engaging microsite. This would then be supported by the creation of an impactful teaser video to encourage prospects to participate.
Given the goal to enable sales, the experience had to be simple to use yet customisable, so tours could be tailored, highly interactive and secure, due to the sensitivity of the footage and content within.
Key objectives were:
- Produce a virtual experience that sales could tailor and take prospects and new customers through.
- Enable sales to run standard pre-configured tours, customised tours with greater detail and fully tailored tours for a personalised experience.
- Ensure each tour provided a rich experience using video, a stop summary and a more detailed services overview.
- Localise the tour into four key languages spoken, to allow for EMEA-wide guests, including all on-screen copy and content within.
- Provide multi-stage authentication given the sensitivity of the content, enabling only Dell sales employees to access and showcase the tours.
The solution
To take Dell’s virtual tours to the next level, we created a tour microsite that was externally hosted with security controls in place so that only Dell Technologies employees can access it. Utilising 3D modelling, the solution would create a realistic environment and memorable experience for customers and partners.
The results
The original virtual tour was so well received by Dell Technologies that Silver was tasked with developing further tours around other Dell facilities, ranging from the Netherlands to Houston, TX.
