A retrospective of a virtual Dell Technologies World!

As a long-standing partner of Dell Technologies (and the former storage-giant, EMC), Silver has had the pleasure of previously attending Dell Technologies World in Las Vegas, which can only be described as epic. Despite not being able to this year due to unprecedented times, we were still just as eager to see what Dell Technologies pulls out of the bag.

And they didn’t disappoint.

Here’s a brief account of only a selection of highlights from the two-day virtual event from Silver Account Manager, Jess Collier.

A VIP welcome
Atens of thousands (no doubt) sat with apprehension on the 21st October as the countdown clock ticked down to zerofinally it was show time! Shortly after catching a glimpse of the content-rich on-demand experience, we were welcomed by Michael Dell himself, leaving you inspired and on the edge of your seat, followed by his executive team who paved the way for an exciting agenda ahead.

Embracing a virtual/remote world
Despite the restrictions in place due to COVID-19, Dell Technologies embraced the challenge from the outsetThe digital ‘on-demand’ experience offered a wealth of content at your fingertips – all from the comfort of your own home, featuring clever use of VR and editing to elevate the digital experience to another level. Packed full of keynotes, break-outs, live music and even a dedicated dog page, there was plenty to explore.

That said, it wasn’t absent from the usual ability to interact on a human-level with opportunities for attendees to ask questions and interact live with experts, network with others in the community lounges and connect with experts in one-to-one sessions too. Dell Technologies did a great job at getting the balance right – a nice touch, really well done.

The digital future is now
Compelling keynotes quickly reinforced the fact that 2020 has accelerated the pace of innovation and change like never before. Michael Dell opened the event by saying, “Technology has never been more central than it is right now”, and with so many emerging technologies and trends shaping the future – hybrid cloud, edge, 5G, data management, intrinsic security, AI and machine learning – businesses need to embrace digital transformation to stay ahead of the game in the data era. Dell Technologies is certainly committed to supporting their customers on this journey.

Your service, on your watch
Project APEX was one of the more significant launch announcements from the two-day event. Dell Technologies announced their commitment and strategy to delivering as-a-service offerings across their entire portfolio by 2022 – starting with storage as-a-service next year.

The solution will give customers choice and flexibility in how they consume their infrastructure with a consistent experience at the core, edge or cloud.

According to industry analyst IDC, by 2024 more than 50% of data centre infrastructure will be consumed as-a-service, so it’s unsurprising that Dell Technologies’ strategy embraces such a lucrative market!

A smart and highly strategic card played by the tech giant.

The Power of partnerships
An emotive keynote reiterated integral value of the partner community and how they are the foundation of success. Littered with engaging snippets from partners, great customer stories and powerful messagingthe positive impact that these strong partnerships are having on helping customers adapt and progress in the current climate was evident.

Throughout the event it was clear that strong partnerships, passion, resilience and commitment to providing transformative technology solutions is at the heart of what Dell Technologies does. It perfectly aligned to the brands purpose of ‘driving human progress through greater access to better technology, for people with big ideas around the world’.

And just like that we’re at over 500 words and there’s so much more to say! Learn more, experience insights and keynotes first hand at the Dell Technologies on-demand experience.
