Silver Spotlight: Natacha Torres
Which three words would you use to describe your role?
Organisation. Strategic. Creative.
What are your day-to-day tasks?
First off I check the schedule and catch up with different team members on projects that are currently being worked on. Then I catch up with clients to see if there are any updates on project statuses or new projects coming in.
There’s a lot of reviewing and checking what is coming out of the studio. I try and put a client hat on to make sure we’re hitting the brief.
I also work closely with clients to make project plans. I need to understand what the strategy is and the thinking behind their initiatives to make sure our deliverables achieve success.
What’s the best part of the job?
I love it when the client loves the work that we’ve done and feeds back its success because that’s ultimately what we do: help customers be successful and drive their initiatives.
I also really love it when a new project comes in. The whole process of sitting down or having a call with the client, asking questions and really getting inside their heads to understand what they’re trying to achieve.
What’s the biggest challenge?
Probably when projects are delayed for a lengthy period of time. It can be difficult and time-consuming to get your head back into a project if weeks pass by. When you’re working on a project on a daily basis you can become really familiar with it.
Favourite project you’ve worked on and why?
Odesma. We delivered a whole brand, web design and mission video. Rebrands and brand developments are always fun. In this case, we helped a business set their foundations. The Odesma team were happy to push the boundaries and try something different. They were really lovely clients to work with.
What’s your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?
It has to be Luca, my little baby! He keeps me on my toes and constantly reminds me not to take life too seriously.
What do you do when you’re not producing great marketing work?
Well, with my new membership, I’ll be going to the gym!
I like to try new experiences. Recently I went on a Thai cooking course which was so much fun! It was at a vineyard near Cardiff of all places! The weather was beautiful too, so we got to sit outside and sip wine in the sun.
I also like travelling, and at the moment I’m keeping myself out of trouble with lots of wedding planning. It’s all under control for the time being!
What piece of tech could you not live without?
Probably my phone. I think I’d feel lost without it because it’s my main way of contacting people. I do so much with my phone: emails, calls, texts, surf the web, social media… even watch Netflix!
The Lion King. It’s just such a beautiful story. It’s very emotional; exploring loss and what’s important in life. The soundtrack is amazing, too.
Who would you choose to play you in a film?
Jessica Chastain. I love her. She’s not too serious, not too ditsy, and she’s almost as cool as me. But she’d have to become a brunette.
And finally, which cartoon character do you most relate to and why?
Garfield. I could quite happily spend my life eating lasagne and sleeping!
