Employee marketing needs to be approached in the same way you would approach an external marketing campaign – have a budget, do the research, plan and execute. You really need to find out what makes your employees tick. What is going to incentivize them to be that productive, committed and loyal employee who wants to build a career at your company?
With Silver’s lovely client list, we see great companies doing great things for their employees. I personally have just finished a project where our client has a sales push for one week of the quarter. Great for the company, busy for the employee! We made their working environment fun with decoration and interactive games, we had daily incentives and prizes as well as a team activity waiting for them at the end. Beforehand, we sent out a survey to the sales team asking what would they like to see as prizes, what would they like to do as a team? You get a great response with some outrageous suggestions – but the best thing is that we listened and delivered (to an extent)! Motivation is high and more importantly the employees feel valued.
Employee marketing shouldn’t stop at incentives for sales and don’t let HR take the load for initiating campaigns. The importance of employee engagement is on the up and to stay competitive in retaining and recruiting top talent – creative, engaging and solid employee marketing needs to be at the top of your agenda.
