Having worked closely with a charity called Malaika, where we donated a rebrand, website and mission video which was showcased at The Clinton Foundation African Summit, we were inspired to start our own charity.
Snap was envisioned over a coffee between Silver’s CEO Graham Dodridge and photographer Remy Whiting, and enables children from sub-Saharan Africa to express themselves through photography. Simply put: Snap brings photography students, professionals and enthusiasts from around the world to the townships of South Africa and to schools in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to share their skills.
In 2015 we launched Snap with three hugely successful projects in Port Elizabeth (SA) and Lubumbashi (DRC) with students from the US, UK and China. You can find out more about their incredible experiences via their blogs at snap.foundation.
Snap has really resonated with all of the team at Silver as well as our incredibly supportive customers and friends. There is even more excitement planned for 2016 with three more projects in the diary and a gallery exhibition in the autumn, in which we are actively seeking further corporate support by way of covenants from businesses and individuals.
Along with Snap, Silver has given long-standing support to The Imps Motorcycle Display – www.impsonline.com. The Imps have given hope and experience to children from London’s East End for more than forty years and the team have risen to become one of the world’s best loved displays at air tattoos around the world with shows in Switzerland last year, and Malta and Edinburgh this year. Since Silver’s inception we have continuously raised awareness and donated marketing support, as well as purchasing a fleet of twenty new motorcycles for the team last year with the support of JBW and crowdfunding.
In addition to these charities, we’ve made financial contributions to both Great Ormond Street Hospital and The Dallaglio Foundation, meaning that during 2015 Silver donated more than 10% of pretax profit to charity – a figure we are enormously proud of. At Silver we always strive to work hard and are lucky to love what we do, but we are also extremely conscious of our good fortune and are dedicated to supporting one another and giving hope to those that are less fortunate.
