A new fun microsite for the national charity for sick children, WellChild, has been launched this Christmas to help raise awareness and donations, helping the charity to bring care and support to seriously ill children and their families. The microsite, www.createyourelf.com, was launched on 1st December 2013 and allows visitors to create their own elf, give it a name and share it on social media. There is also an option to donate money to WellChild and sign up to the charity’s enewsletter, with the overall objective being to help sick children celebrate Christmas at home.
The elf microsite is a partnership between WellChild and Silver, the Cheltenham based social marketing and brand communication experts, who have created the site for free for the charity.
WellChild Director of Marketing & Communications Tom de Pass said: “We are delighted to welcome the elves and thank Silver for kindly creating an online community to home them. We hope this fun site will help spread the message about WellChild’s team of nurses who provide essential support to hundreds of families with seriously ill children across the UK each year.”
Silver Creative Director Graham Dodridge said: “Here at Silver we’re dedicated to helping make a positive difference to the community we live in, beyond the brand and marketing services work we do. We believe that the work of WellChild is extremely worthwhile and wanted to use our creative and strategic energy and experiences to support this cause – and have some fun into the bargain. The team has engineered and built what we hope will be a hugely successful campaign running up to Christmas 2013, in place of the ubiquitous card and corporate gifts. I’m confident our customers will lend their full support to our endeavours. So let’s all create an Elf for Wellchild.”
WellChild has also launched a Christmas appeal campaign. The ‘At Home for Christmas’ appeal is fronted by four year old George who, after nearly a year in hospital, was able to get home just in time for Christmas last year thanks to the help of a WellChild Nurse, Sue. George also appears on the elf microsite.
