Working in the design industry, it is of course inevitable that at some point, you come across the wonder that is Helvetica.

It’s one of those simple pleasures that we face everyday. There have even been films dedicated to it, clothing lines covered in it and now this, introducing ‘The Helvetica Bike’ By Borja Garcia Studio!
You may think, “what’s the obsession with a typeface?” but if you take a look at the history of this beautiful font, you can’t help but appreciate how powerful it is. Everywhere you go, any street you walk down, you will find it a real struggle to avoid stumbling across this typeface.

Everything about the design of this bike screams Swiss design, from the simplicity of the frame to the subtle type on either side. Boja Garcia has stayed true to this “Swiss style”, using the traditional red and white colours with the Swiss flag on the front and of course featuring the name of Helvetica designer, Max Miedinger on one side.

As you have seen over the past couple of months, we have been going a bit bike crazy here at Silver. Seeing other studios do interesting stuff like this with such a widely used object just makes us want to try our hand at customising one ourselves. With Graham having only just finished the Dallaglio Flintoff Cycle Slam and with the weather getting unusually hotter, it would seem like the perfect opportunity to get your shorts on, jump on your bike and go for a ride and what better way to do it than ride around in style on this bike.

This bike is a one off and was created to celebrate 55 years of Helvetica.
